Community Chocolate Festival -- April 21, 2007 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on
the grounds of The Journey (formerly Central Christian Church), located at 6427
Franconia Road. Chocolate Dessert Contest. Kids games and activities. Ice
Cream Truck with free chocolate ice cream. Live music. Free chocolate treats.
All proceeds from dessert contest and voluntary donations go to benefit Koinonia
Foundation, which offers food/clothing/housing assistance to needy families in

- Welcome to the inaugural season of the Kingstowne
Community Chorus. We are excited to get moving and provide quality choral music
to the Kingstowne Community as well as the surrounding Northern Virginia area.
We are currently expanding our membership and personally invite you to join our
fun group.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM at
the Church of the Spirit in Kingstowne. It is located on Barclay Drive in
Kingstowne behind the Kohl's and Wal-Mart in Kingstowne. For a map and detailed

There is a Movie and Munch for kids at the South Center on Wednesdays at noon.

The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is gearing up for a full summer of free outdoor concerts throughout the city. Midday Lunch Bunch concerts are already under way this month and will continue on various dates through the summer at Market Square
on King Street. Montgomery Park concerts, a series of Wednesday evening family performances in North Old Town, will begin June 14 and continue on various dates. The Music at Twilight Series, which takes place at Fort Ward Park at 4301 W. Braddock Road, will feature a variety of musical performances starting June 1.
Waterfront Park concerts will be held Monday evenings beginning June 12 at Waterfront Park at Strand Street.

The Kingstowne Playgroup will start meeting at Hayfield Park on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., starting in May. There is a great need for a new coordinator. If you are interested, please call Lori Higgins at (703) 922-9477 or e-mail her at

A 12-step program for families and friends of addicts has formed in Springfield. The new group, Naranon, is based on the Alanon program. The group meets each Wednesday night from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. in room 210 of the Springfield United Methodist
Church.

The Franconia Community Coalition, Inc. holds open meetings monthly every third Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Franconia Governmental Center to promote cross-sector communication and cooperation. You can reach the Coalition President, Tim Fleming

Village Parkway and Telegraph Road.
