Early Evening Walks on Second Mondays in the Spring
Start Point: Fairview
Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road (Rte 123), Fairfax Station, VA 22039
Start Times: Register and start walking between 4:30pm and 6pm. Finish by
8:30pm.
Distances/Trails: These evening walks will consist of 10KM trails with shorter
5KM options along residential sidewalks and park trails in Fairfax, Virginia.
This is a new start point so trails will pass through new neighborhoods in the
Fairfax Station and Burke areas of Fairfax County. Trails should be suitable for
strollers, though wheelchairs may encounter some difficulty. Written
instructions and maps will be provided for each walk; trails will not be marked.
Award: These are credit-only events. No awards are available, though some B awards from previous NVV events may be available for an appropriate fee.
Fees: There is no charge to participate in these events, though each participant must sign the liability waiver and carry a start card. The fee for IVV credit only is $3. Pre-registration: There is no pre-registration for these events.
Stipulations: Pets must be under control at all times and must be picked up after. Pets are not allowed in the start point. Everyone is welcome. Participants may walk, jog, or run. An adult must accompany children under 12.

Continue west on Braddock Road (VA-620) for about 6 miles. Soon after you pass entrances to George Mason University on your right and a shopping center on your left, turn left on Ox Road (VA-123) and head south for about 2.5 miles to Burke Centre Parkway. Turn left on Burke Centre Parkway to head east for one block. Turn right into the first drive on the right and turn right again to head into the parking lot on the north side of the school.
From I-66: From I-66, take Exit 55 (Fairfax County Parkway/VA-7100) south towards Fairfax. Continue south on the Fairfax County Parkway for about 5.2 miles until you reach Burke Centre Parkway. Turn left on Burke Centre Parkway and drive east for about 7/10ths mile to Ox Road (VA-123). Continue straight across Ox Road and drive for another block. Turn right into the first drive on the right and turn right again to head into the parking lot on the north side of the school.
Soccer tournament winners

Mother’s Day Tournament, Sunday, May 11. For 6 years &
up, 8am-noon, Burke Lake Golf Course, 703-323-1641. This annual event follows a two-person scramble format. Mothers play FREE with paying partner.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Reservations required by May 7. Sign-up begins
April 30. Cancelled in the event of rain. Cost: FREE for Mothers, $23 for partner.
On Saturdays, Canoe Accotink Marsh, (5 years & up), 8-9:30am, Lake Accotink Park. Call 703-941-1065 (Hidden Oaks
Nature Center) for information. Early morning is the best time to catch a glimpse of
wildlife visiting the lake. Novice and experienced canoeists will enjoy the easy paddling
through open water and marsh. Meet at the concession stand. Reservations required
by May 16. Cancelled in case of rain. $8/canoe
Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station is offering a series of team bass tournaments throughout spring, summer and fall, culminating in a Classic Tournament Oct. 7 and 8.
Tournaments are set for Sunday; April 2, 16 and 30; May 14 and 21;
June 4 and 18; July 16 and 30; Aug. 13 and 27; and Sept. 10 and 24.

Entry fees are $40 per boat and $5 per person. Anglers may rent
